Cranky Bear creates hand operated mechanical toys ofter called automata. Humour and a love of storytelling interest me and inform my creativity.

I use whatever materials seem fitting to the project and a lifelong need to recycle and repurpose materials means that  ideas often spring from items I find along  my travels. Automata for me are the perfect blend of art and engineering. They are fun and I like not only making the toys but, also watching others smile when they use them. Besides my own inventions, I also enjoy collaborating with clients to arrive at a solution which surprises us both.
